Reconstruction of a massive original of the 5th century, now part of a private collection in Germany. The origin of the cicada as artwork of jewellery was probably the area of the Black Sea, spreaded by the Ostrogoths from Pannonia (now Hungary) to western Europe. The frankish burial of king Childeric in Tournai / Belgium, dating in 482 AD, contained over 300 mounts in shape of cicadas, often called "bees". The insects were seen as lucky charms and symbol for summer and joy of life since the ancient times.

Handcrafted from real bronze, fully operatice with authentic pin. Length 60mm.
