Late Roman Chip Carved Buckle, Bronze

This beautiful little buckle with a chip carved pattern from the late 4th to early 5th century is based on an original from Monceau-le-Neuf (Dep. Aisne) in northeastern France. The finds from the late Roman Spatha grave 1 are exhibited in the Musée d'art et d'archéologie de Laon. The buckle is also decorated with animal heads and a beaded wire. The chip carved buckle is suitable for a belt width of about 30mm, but can also be mounted on a wider belt in the late Roman tradition. An authentic use for a spatha belt is also conceivable. Of course, you can also find the right strap end in my range of products. The chip carved buckle is attached to the belt strap with two small rivets, the assembly material and instructions are included in the delivery.
