This ring is a free copy of an original find of the remarkable alamannic grave field of Lauchheim (pic. 2). Grave No. 36, beeing robbed in ancient times, still contained an outstanding gold ring and fragments of a lamella armour. The burial was constructed for an approximately 50 year old man, who belonged to the upper class of his society. The burial dates in the early middle ages, the merovingian period, ca. 700 AD.
The plate of the ring depicts a horse, moon and halfmoon, serpent an a christian double cross, combining pagan and christian symbols. Our reconstruction was handcrafted in high quality 925 silver.
