Anchor brooches are related to the roman trumpet brooches. Most of them are found in the Balkans and in the region of the lower Danube, the former roman provinces of Pannonia and Dacia. They appear in the late 1st century and were popular through the 2nd century. Our reconstruction is a copy of an well preserved original of a private collection in southern Germany.  An extraordinary small bird decoration is applicated to the bow. The brooch is handcrafted from real bronze with a lavish authentic spiral pin construction.
Also available is a full set of a pair of brooches with suspended chain and ivy leaf pendants, based on a find from Ujszony / Hungary (now on display at the British Museum, London).
