The plate of the ring depicts the greek beauty Leda, queen of Sparta, visited by Zeus in the form of a swan. Picture 2 shows a painting which is seen as a copy of an original by Michelangelo.
Leda became pregnant with 4 children, 2 of Zeus and 2 of her husband Tyndareus. This were Polydeukes (Pollux) and Castor, as well as the girls Helena and Klytaimnestra. Helena married the king of Sparta, Menelaos, and was the reason for the Trojan War.
The original of the ring (pic. 3) is on display at the Saalburg Museum, our reproduction is handcrafted from high quality 925 silver.
