This viking fibula was originally made as a bottom for a box brooch. In the age of the vikings, old jewellry was often repaired or, in the case of this find, replenished by a pin construction for the use as a fibula. We know 3 finds from Gotland where parts of box brooches were secondary re-used in that way.
The ring is decorated with viking beasts in rune stone style with a diameter of approx. 60 mm. Sturdy pin construction with iron pin at the backside.
