Pendant with Celtic Satyr, Silver
A large celtic can made from bronze and probably filled with mediteranian wine or local mead was a gift for a celtic chieftain, burried at the hill Klein-Aspergle in southern Germany. The ancient greek figure of a Satyr with the ears of a goat was used as an ornament of the handle. Satyres belonged to the attendants of the god of the wine, Dyonisos, and had a high affinity to alcohol and sex.
The pendant is handcrafted from solid silver and is delivered with leather thong. Picture 2 depicts the original. Size 43 x 26 mm,
