Alemannic brooch with bow button

Alemannic brooch with bow button and crossbow construction of the late 3rd century. After the fall of the roman limes border, germanic tribes from northern germany migrated to the Southwest, creating a new people being called "Alamanni" in roman literature. This means "all man" and seems to be an indication for the origin of this people.

Based on an original in a private colection, we handcrafted this fully operative reconstruction from real bronze. Length 60mm.
