Germanic Belt Buckle, Bronze
Typical germanic belt buckle of the 1st - 2nd century AD.
Germanic Belt Buckle, Bronze
This small germanic belt buckle is a reconstruction of a fragmented original. The shape of the buckle and the long thorn are significant for the group of "Achterschnallen", which developed under influence of roman military buckles from late celtic belthooks. It is assumed that this type of buckles has got a Bohemian origin, spreading from Marbods kingdom to the free Germania and up to Skandinavia. Length 85mm.
Handcrafted from real bronze, delivery with instruction and rivets, ready to be fitted. Leather sold separately.
