Set of Chain Mail Hooks, Bronze
Fasteners for the doubling of a roman chain mail (lorica hamata). The set comprises 2 decorated hooks and 3 buttons with rivets and washers. Based on a find from Vindonissa, first century AD. Made from massive bronze.
Chainmail clasp hooks
These hooks were reconstructed on the basis of a find from Vindonissa (picture 4). They were used to close an additional shoulder protection in front of the chest on a chain mail shirt (lorica hamata). The central rivet button is fastened to the chain mail for this purpose, and the movable sleeves grip over other buttons that sit on the shoulder double.
The fastening is done with the rivet pins, which can be riveted, splinted, soldered or connected in another individual way with the enclosed counter washer. The scope of delivery includes two hooks, three decorative rosettes with pins and three counter washers. Made of solid bronze.
