Roman Strap End with Cupid Head, Silver
Strap end pendant with Cupidhead (?), inspired by an ancient find from Tekije, Serbia. The strap end pendant was part of a treasure hoard near the ancient fortification of Transdierna. The original find, dating to the 2nd half of the 1st century, is displayed in the Serbian National Museum (Narodni Muzej) in Belgrade.
The fitting can be used as a decorative strap end or as an end tongue for the apron leather straps of a Roman military belt (pteryges). The size of the strap end fitting is about 14 x 92mm, it is delivered ready for assembly with rivets.
