Viking thistle fibula - our replica

Our replica of a Viking thistle brooch is handcrafted from solid 925 Sterling silver. The ring is elaborately cast using the lost wax process, the needle was forged and hardened for use additionally. The diameter of the ring is approx. 45 mm, it is delivered with a case and certificate.

Viking thistle fibula - the original finds

These so-called thistle brooches originated in the formerly Celtic areas of Ireland in the late 9th century. When Vikings settled some areas (e.g. Dublin), this form of fibula soon found its way to Scandinavia and enjoyed great popularity there in the 10th century. As part of the men's costume, the ring brooches were soon copied and further developed by local craftsmen.
