Merovingian Brooch Weimar, Silver
Bow brooch from the Merovingian cemetery North of Weimar. 6th century AD. Handcrafted from solid 925 silver!
Bow brooch from the Merovingian period, Weimar
The original of this beautiful bow brooch comes from the burial of a rich lady from the Merovingian North Cemetery in Weimar, grave 56/57. A remarkable feature of the two almost identical originals is a runic inscription carved on the back near the needle holder. The originals date to the 6th century AD.
Our piece has an elaborate and naturally functional needle construction of sturdy nickel silver. Handcrafted from solid 925 silver!
On request, the animal head at the base of the brooch can also be inlaid with almandine (garnet). Please choose your option above in the corresponding selection field. An individual runic inscription can also be added for an extra charge. Size approx. 10 x 5,5 cm.
