Rivet, hand-cast from silver, including counter washer for riveting. The template are early Celtic rivets from the belt buckles from Glauberg, but similar rivets can also be found in Roman or early medieval times.

Rivet, hand-cast from solid silver, including counter washer for riveting. The template are early Celtic rivets from the belt buckles from Glauberg, but similar rivets can also be found in Roman or early medieval times.

For fastening of belt buckles or for other assembly work on metal, leather etc. The rivet has to be shortened to the required length with a wire cutter or pliers. Before the actual riveting with a light hammer, the cutting edge must be filed even. The shaft should only protrude minimally over the washer, rivets that are too long will bend otherwise!
