Miniature bronze statuette of Mars – the Roman god of war

An expressive miniature of Mars, the Roman god of war, crafted to the highest standards of historical authenticity and craftsmanship. Standing 53 mm tall without the lance, this small statuette combines archaeological research, traditional casting techniques and artistic passion to create an exceptional collector’s item.

Genuine handcrafted solid bronze

Handcrafted in our own workshop from solid, authentic bronze – deliberately avoiding modern substitute materials such as resin or tin, and instead using high-quality small-scale bronze.

The pieces are made using the traditional lost-wax casting process (Cire Perdue) – a technique that has been in use since ancient times.

Each figure is unique, with its own surface texture and character.

Historically accurate design

The figure is loosely inspired by an important statuette of Mars from the British Museum, London (found at Earith, Cambridgeshire, 2nd century AD).

Depiction of the god Mars in typical military attire:

  • Helmet of a Roman general
  • Anatomically shaped breastplate (cuirass)
  • Decorated greaves featuring lightning motifs
  • Originally with a spear

A meticulous examination of one of the finest bronze artefacts from Roman Britain.

Ideal for collecting, displaying and communicating

This compact miniature is ideal for:

  • Collectors of antique replicas
  • Lovers of Roman history and mythology
  • Reenactment und Living History
  • Teaching & Museum Education

The perfect addition to the travel altar (Found in Comacchio)

Combined with the small travel altar, modelled on a find from Comacchio, the overall effect is particularly harmonious:

  • The statuette looks like an original cult figure in a private shrine
  • Together, they create a rich, atmospheric scene
  • Ideal for creating atmospheric displays using lighting, decorations or other period replicas

The two buildings complement each other visually and historically in an exceptionally harmonious way.
