Roman Belt Buckle in Trumpet Ornament
In the mid-2nd century, during the Antonine period, a style of jewelry with elements reminiscent of trumpets or curved horns developed in Britain from Celtic roots. The so-called trumpet stylebecame a popular appearance of jewelry, the fashion for which spread throughout the empire with the British troops.
The buckle is based on an object found in the limes fort of Zugmantel. It comes ready to mount, although the mounting technique is quite unusual. The buckle is best suited for thin straps of about 20 mm width.
