Roman Signet Ring Capricornus

The capricorn or capricornus is the ancient and current symbol of the zodiac sign. It represents a goat with the tail of a fish. Especially under the reign of emperor Augustus,  the capricorn was very popular. As astrological legitimation of his authority it was depicted on coins, monuments and even used at the insignia of some legions.

Based on original finds this beautiful roman ring was made by hand. The decorative relief of the capricorn with globe is plastically ingraved and clearly emphasized. Besides the decorative function as a ring,  the decorative plate with the capricorn is actually suitable for use as a seal. A great piece of historical significance! Each ring is indivually based on a wax model that is revised manually and casted in the ancient and time consuming process in the lost form. The raw ring is also revised, sanded and polished. So your ring is individually made for you!
