The Sator Palindrome

The magical palindrome "Sator Arepo Tenet Opera Rotas", which can be read forwards, backwards, from top to bottom and from bottom to top, has given rise to many translations and interpretations since ancient times. The earliest inscription is found in Pompeii and therefore dates from before 79 A.D. Since then, the magic formula can be traced into modern times. Evidence of the centuries-long use of the "magic spell" can be found in both Latin and runic script.
The literal translation is "The sower Arepo holds the wheels with toil", but the deeper meaning is not immediately apparent. Is this a Christian secret confession? From the first half, the wording "A PATERNOSTER O", God the Father between A and O, the beginning and the end, can be formed. The square can also be explained mathematically, but a magical interpretation is also popular. It was considered healing during the plague and was supposed to help against hunger and fire. It is said that a fire is extinguished if an object inscribed with the palindrome is thrown into the flames. Amulets of this kind really did exist, but our version bears the Latin variant on the front and the writing in authentic runic script on the back, based on an original historical piece.
