Aucissa Brooch, Silver
The typical Aucissa brooches develop from Celtic brooch forms that became increasingly popular. They get their name from the maker's name "Aucissa", which is stamped on some original pieces.
Roman Aucissa Brooch
This Aucissa brooch is based on an original from a private collection. Handcrafted from solid silver, our reconstruction is designed as a utilitarian piece and therefore has a sturdy and flexible steel pin. On request and for a small surcharge, a variant with a forged silver pin is also available as a custom-made item, but this variant is mainly recommended for demonstration and exhibition purposes. Size 50 x 25mm.
The typical Aucissa brooches evolved from Celtic brooch forms that became increasingly popular. They get their name from the maker's name "Aucissa", which is stamped on some original pieces. This hinged brooch with its high bow was in use in some variants from early Augustan times to the end of the 1st century. Like the younger knee brooches, the Aucissa brooches appear mainly in a military context and are therefore addressed as soldier's brooches.
