Merovingian Seax (Sax) rivet, decorated in early medieval animal style. The leather scabbards of the one edged swords/knifes were often decorated with punched patterns, metal ornaments and rivets. Reconstruction of an original in private property. Diameter of the rivet head 15 mm, length of the shaft approx. 12 mm.
Handcrafted from real bronze. Picture 2 shows a reconstruction with silver rivets, made by Andreas Helfert.
