Late Roman Ring Suspension, Bronze

Late antique belt fitting with rosette and ring suspension for attaching a sword, dagger, bag or shoulder strap. Inspired by an original from Dorchester, Great Britain. The find from Dorchester was discovered in 1874 during construction work; it is a warrior's grave from the late 4th to 5th century A.D. Both the belt fittings and the grave finds from a woman's grave located in the immediate vicinity indicate a continental origin of the individuals and their equipment. Comparable finds come, for example, from the grave of Donderberg / NL.

Handmade from solid bronze. Supplied with rivets for fastening. Size approx. 60 x 25mm.
