Ring Distaff

The combed raw wool was attached to a distaff, from which a thread could then be spun with the help of a spinning whorl. Distaffs of this type date back to the Roman era and were in use for a long period of time. Unlike simple branches made of wood, you could put your little finger through the ring and thus hold the distaff comfortably in your hand.
