A replica is an exact copy of an original. In most cases ancient objects are damaged or corroded. A perfect 1:1 replication usually doesn't satisfy the demand of a wearable piece of jewelry. The exact replica of an original find wouldn't be working, since all damages also would be copied. With "replica" we understand a working reconstruction of the piece into the condition in which the original could have been at the time of his production. It is possible to make such a reconstruction by comparison with similiar pieces. In some cases we have to work artistic, and to interpret a replica stylistically to get a working reconstruction of the former original.
In principle, all pieces of jewelry and replicas are in a working, usable and operative condition. they can be used for museum exhibitions, educational projects, Reenactment, Living History or Larp - Replik offers a broad assortment of over 1000 replicas from many epochs. Of course our replicas also fulfill decorative functions in a private collection or as a modern piece of jewelry for enthusiasts of special artefacts with a fascinating history.
The replica of a ring is just as wearable today as it was hundreds or even thousands of years ago. Belts with historic buckles are not only reserved for museum purposes or historical representations, they also can be used in daily life, extravagant as well as decorative. The replica of a fibula or cloak pin can be used as a modern brooch, tie-pin or to close scarves or ponchos.
The webshop of Replik opens a window into the past. By the large number of all kinds of replicas in our assortment, we don't have all pieces in all materials and sizes on stock. By the workshop of our own, however, we have the possibility of producing all replicas individually within a short time period. We also are able to take special requests into account!
Every replica is delivered ready for use. This means pendants have an eyelet and a leather thong even if these aren't mentioned explicitly on the product photo or in the description. Belt buckles are delivered ready to assemble with rivets, pins and instructions. There are certificates for many replicas which give informations about the origin of the original.
The sizes of the rings refer to the inner diameter in millimeter. A size in circumference or in US-measurements can alternatively be indicated in the remark field. We recommend to measure the exact size in a nearby jewellery store before placing an order. You also can send us a fitting ring, which we can use to measure the size in our workshop. Your replica is made in exactly the same size afterwards.
The satisfaction of our customers is most important to us. Therefore we are very pleased about feedback, suggestions and enquiries. Use the contact form on this side! If there should be a reason for a complaint, Replik offers an unbureaucratic and flexible service also beyond the revocation laws.
