This openwork Balteus fitting with lion's head has a D-shaped eyelet on the back for attaching the sword belt. It is a slightly reconstructed original cast.
The original is a find of unknown function. The reconstruction as a Balteus ornamental fitting is hypothetical. The picture of the original shows a comparative find from a private collection with an additional eyelet.
The diameter of the disc is about 65mm, handmade of solid bronze.
