Celtic Gallo-Roman Collared Brooch
Reconstruction of an original of the celtic-roman burial site of Wederath / Germany (Belginum), late 1st century BC. Handmade in solid Bronze.
Lavish reconstruction of an old find of the famous celtic-roman burial site of Wederath, the ancient village of Belginum. The site is well-known because of it´s continuity from the pre-roman iron age to the time of the roman emperors, showing the development of ancient celts to roman provincial inhabitants. The time of the collar-brooches is the time of the conquest of celtic gaul by Julius Caesar. In some cases the collar brooches were still in use at the time of emperor Augustus. Our original was very fragmented because of the typical fire cremation, so we had to reconstruct most of this brooch by using similiar finds from other sites. Length 11 cm.
Picture 2 depicts another original fibula of the same type.
