Eye of Horus Pendant
In egyptian mythology, the sun-god Horus (later replaced by Re or Ra) is depicted as a falcon, or with a falcon´s head. He is one of the most important deities in ancient Egypt, who became king of upper and lower Egypt after the death of his father Osiris. In this function he is the personal protector of the pharao. The temple of Edfu was built to embrace Horus in the Ptolemaic Period.
During the fight for his father´s heritage he loses his eyes, but he was healed by the god Thot. His falcon eye (also called Moon-Eye, Udjat-Eye or Wedjat-Eye) became the symbol of protection and health.
