Celtic Ring with Knot Ornament, Bronze
With its knot ornamentation, this example corresponds in detail to the arm and leg bracelets that were worn in pairs as part of a Celtic woman's standard costume.
Celtic Knot Ring
Very few finger rings from the Latène period, the pre-Roman Celtic era, have survived. Magnificent gold finger rings are sometimes found in the princely tombs of the early Latène period, but finds from later periods are very rare.
This example, with its knot ornamentation, corresponds in detail to the arm and leg bracelets of the same period, which were part of a Celtic woman's standard costume in pairs. The original comes from a private collection and has been slightly reconstructed. As the size can only be altered by adding or removing individual knots, the sizes given are only approximate and may vary slightly on this piece. A truly outstanding piece of Celtic craftsmanship!
