Small Alamannic crossbow brooch of the late 3rd / 4th century. After the fall of the roman limes border, germanic tribes from northern germany migrated to the Southwest, creating a new people being called "Alamanni" in roman literature. This means "all man" and seems to be an indication for the origin of this people.
Based on an original in a private colection, we handcrafted this fully operative reconstruction from real bronze. Length 40mm.
