Small Roman balance with figural moving weight based on finds from the 1st century.

The relatively small balance scale is especially suitable for weighing small objects, for example goldsmith's work, coins and small bronzes. The length of the scale beam is about 12 cm. The Roman balance scale is handcrafted by us from real bronze.

With two hooks on both sides of the scale beam, the scale can be suspended in two ways and thus has two weight ranges. On one side the weight range is about 100g, on the opposite side a little coarser about 220g.

The Roman weight system is based on one uncia (=27.3g) and one libra (=12 unciae or 327.5 g). The quick balance is therefore also calibrated to Roman uncia:

The scale has markings at intervals of 1 Uncia. As the mass of the moving weight varies somewhat due to individual manufacture, the markings may differ from the position shown. However, each scale is individually calibrated to the respective barrel weight. If desired, calibration in grams is also possible.
