Roman whistle brooch. The functional whistle fibula is based on an original from Regensburg. Dating is uncertain, probably between the 2nd and 4th century.

Functional Roman whistle with pin construction. The whistle brooch was made hollow in one piece after an original from Regensburg. The angle of the pipe was slightly increased after numerous experiments in order to optimise the tone.
Whether it is a signalling device, perhaps for military use, cannot be determined with certainty. The dating can also only be roughly narrowed down to the 2nd to 4th century.
