Portable roman sundial (vertical disc dial) made after a find from Oxford. Like the original, the roman sundial can be set to season and latitude, making it universally applicable worldwide. On the back of the sundial is an antique "cheat sheet" with Roman provinces and their latitudes. Supplied with a detailed description of the operation of the sundial.
The piece does not only work as a simple sundial, but also offers interesting insights into ancient timekeeping, geography and mathematics due to its well thought design. The diameter of the roman sundial is about 65 mm. The sundial will be delivered in a gift box with leather cord and instructions.
