Set of merovingian belt fittings with buckle of the 7th century AD with decorations in germanic animal style. The original was placed to our disposal by a private collector.
Merovingian Belt Set
Copy of a complete Merovingian belt set with buckle, counter fitting and back fitting. Many years ago we had the opportunity to make impressions of the original fittings from a private collection. These now serve as the basis for our reconstructions. Like the original parts, the fittings are cast in bronze by hand and then reworked. The animal-style ornamentation points to a date in the 7th century AD.
Supplied completely ready to assemble with hump rivets, washers and assembly instructions.
The buckle measures approximately 90 x 40mm and is suitable for belt straps from 30mm.
The size of the counter fitting is 70 x 32 mm, the back fitting is about 42 x 24 mm.
